Sean Terwilliger on Finding Purpose After an Alzheimer’s Diagnosis
Journey to Diagnosis is a Being Patient series sponsored by Eisai. As with all of our reporting, the sponsor has no role in choosing guests, shaping questions, or reviewing content before publication.
When Sean Terwilliger first began experiencing confusion, difficulty with words and numbers, and changes in his thinking, he struggled to find a doctor who would take his concerns seriously. After years of searching for answers, cognitive testing, an MRI, blood tests, and an amyloid PET scan, he ultimately received an Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
The diagnosis was devastating, but over time, Terwilliger found a new sense of purpose. Now 62, the former IT director and educator has become a writer and Alzheimer’s advocate. He participates in research, speaks about his experience, and writes about living with the disease through his blog and book, “ALZ Fired Up!”
Join us Thursday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET for a Live Talk with Terwilliger about the difficult path to diagnosis, coping with the emotional impact of Alzheimer’s, his experience with treatment and clinical research, and how writing and advocacy have helped him find purpose and joy while living with the disease.
RSVP to hear Sean Terwilliger’s story.
