When Memory Fades: What Families Should Expect at Every Stage

The first signs of memory loss can bring uncertainty, fear, and a long list of questions. Families may wonder whether changes are part of normal aging, when to seek medical advice, how to talk with loved ones, and what steps can make daily life more manageable.

Dr. Nathaniel Chin joins us to discuss his new book, When Memory Fades, and the guidance families need from the earliest memory concerns through the later stages of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Drawing on his work as a geriatrician and his personal experience caring for his father, Chin will share how families can approach diagnosis, build routines, communicate with one another, support connection, and focus on what truly helps.

Chin is the medical director and clinical core co-lead of the Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center and an associate professor in the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Department of Medicine. He treats patients, teaches future physicians and geriatric specialists, serves on the boards of the Alzheimer’s Association and Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, and hosts the podcast Dementia Matters.

Join us Friday, June 12, at 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET for a Live Talk with Chin about navigating Alzheimer’s and dementia with more clarity, preparation, and support.
