What to Remember When You Are Forgetting: Living Well With Dementia
A diagnosis of Alzheimerâs or another form of dementia can raise difficult questions about medical care, daily routines, relationships, independence, and what the future may hold.Â
Dr. Zaldy Tan joins us to discuss his new book, âWhat to Remember When You Are Forgetting: How to Live and Thrive With Memory Loss, Alzheimerâs, and Other Dementias.â He will share practical guidance for navigating the stages of dementia, from preparing for an initial evaluation and making the most of medical appointments to considering treatments, adapting the home, and building a reliable support system. The conversation will also explore how people with memory loss can continue to live meaningful lives and how families and caregivers can navigate the questions and challenges that may arise after a diagnosis.
Tan is director of the Memory and Healthy Aging Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and a professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. A neurologist, geriatrician, researcher, and educator, he draws on decades of experience working with people affected by memory loss and the families who care for them.
Join us Friday, Aug. 14, at 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET for a Live Talk with Tan about what to expect after a dementia diagnosis, how to plan for changing needs, and how people living with memory loss can continue to find meaning, connection, and purpose after a diagnosis.
RSVP to join the conversation.
