Francisco Rios on Life After an Alzheimer’s Diagnosis at 46
At 46, Francisco Rios began noticing changes in his memory. At first, the symptoms seemed like everyday forgetfulness — misplacing his keys, wallet, or phone, or forgetting why he had walked into a room. But as the changes progressed, Rios began missing appointments and eventually became lost while driving, an experience that made it clear something more serious was happening.
Rios was ultimately diagnosed with young-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Now 49 and retired from practicing law, he has had to adjust to changes in his memory and ability to follow longer conversations. He describes his life today as more intentional — playing piano, learning French, traveling, caring for his dogs, and making the most of time with his family.
Join us Thursday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET for a Live Talk with Rios and his wife Zahydie Burgos about recognizing the early signs of young-onset Alzheimer’s, navigating a diagnosis at a relatively young age, adjusting to changes in everyday life, and finding ways to continue doing the things that bring meaning and joy.
RSVP to hear Francisco Rios and Zahydie Burgos share their experience with young-onset Alzheimer’s.
