George King on Art, Advocacy, and Facing an Alzheimer’s Diagnosis
Journey to Diagnosis is a Being Patient series sponsored by Eisai. As with all of our reporting, the sponsor has no role in choosing guests, shaping questions, or reviewing content before publication.
George King, a UK citizen living in Atlanta, Georgia, has spent his life as an artist working across film, theater, writing, and photography. His first clear sign of cognitive change came while playing a word game on his phone, when he noticed that his short-term memory was unusually weak. After seeing a neurologist and undergoing testing, King was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
Since then, he has documented his experience of living with Alzheimer’s on his instagram account, @dancing.with.delirium, while learning as much as he can by speaking with neuroscientists, researchers, journalists, and others living with the disease. He is on a maintenance dose of Leqembi, a treatment that can help slow the progression of Alzheimer’s in its early stages.
Join us Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m. PT / 2 p.m. ET for a Live Talk with King about recognizing the early signs of cognitive change, navigating the path to a diagnosis, living with Alzheimer’s, and using art and storytelling as a form of advocacy.
RSVP to hear George King’s story.
