There isn’t one single “best” exercise. Evidence supports staying physically active and incorporating different forms of movement, including aerobic and strength training. Physical activity is associated with better cognitive health and a lower risk of dementia, although researchers have not established that exercise alone can prevent Alzheimer’s disease. Doctors guidelines generally recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week along with muscle-strengthening activity on at least two days.
