The current gold-standard diagnostics include cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) tests and amyloid PET scans. Importantly, no one singular test is enough to diagnose Alzheimer’s; these tests simply confirm the presence of beta-amyloid plaques alongside cognitive impairment. Both the cognitive impairment and testing positive for the biomarker is required for diagnosis.
